The electric tractor that charges with solar power and will transform agriculture
The electrification of transportation has experienced remarkable expansion, extending beyond private and urban vehicles. Industrial vehicles and, increasingly, agricultural machinery are beginning their own transition. The search for alternatives to traditional, high-consumption diesel engines has become a priority in the agricultural sector, where operating costs directly impact the economic viability of farms.
GoSun, a company renowned for its developments in outdoor technical equipment and portable solar solutions, has entered this field and presented the compact, 100% electric Moonrider 27 tractor.

Adapted for intensive agricultural work.
The concept behind the Moonrider 27's design is to provide a functional work tool, free from the emissions and maintenance costs associated with conventional combustion engines. This model is equipped with an electric motor that reaches a maximum power of 27 hp, supported by an AWD traction system, essential to guarantee traction on uneven terrain, mud, or low-grip surfaces.
The company has integrated a 24 kWh lithium battery pack to power the system. According to the manufacturer's specifications, this reserve guarantees up to 5 hours of continuous operation under standard conditions. The transmission system is complemented by a gearbox offering nine forward and three reverse speeds, along with a single-disc dry clutch and oil-immersed brakes, ensuring robust performance under prolonged use.
A dual charging system.
It is worth noting that one of the most remarkable aspects of this electric tractor is the incorporation of an array of solar panels integrated into the cab roof, with a power output of 1,100 W. This solution not only contributes to energy generation at the worksite, but its deployable modules also act as protection for the operator from direct sunlight. Regarding conventional charging, the vehicle is compatible with 220V power outlets. With this electrical infrastructure, the 24 kWh battery can recover between 20% and 80% of its usable capacity in approximately 2.5 hours.

Compact dimensions and ability to work in specific areas.
With an overall length of 2.68 meters, a width of 1.04 meters, and a wheelbase of 1.57 meters, this model has a much smaller footprint than larger tractors. The vehicle stands 2.27 meters tall, while its 27-centimeter ground clearance ensures it can easily overcome obstacles without compromising the chassis.
Weighing in at 1,095 kilograms, this model is designed for maneuvering in confined spaces, such as greenhouses, narrow vineyards, or small farms where larger tractors are inefficient or unable to access. Despite its compact size, the rear is equipped with a three-point hitch capable of lifting loads of up to 750 kilograms. It also features a standard mechanically driven power take-off (PTO) that delivers 22.8 hp. This functionality allows for the connection of conventional agricultural implements, such as brush cutters, cultivators, or trailers.
The initial price announced for this electric tractor is approximately $20,000 (equivalent to €17,100), and includes the vehicle and a 220-volt charger. The solar panel intended for roof installation is offered as an additional option. However, those who reserve their installation before October 1st will be able to enjoy this benefit at no extra cost. The company has distributors in France, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, suggesting the feasibility of marketing this electric tractor in Europe.
