Arla Foods expands its electric truck fleet with four DAF XD Electric vehicles
The Danish dairy conglomerate Arla Foods continues to expand its fleet of freight transport vehicles, with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The company has taken delivery of four additional DAF XD Electric trucks. Last year, Arla had already put three vehicles of this type into service.
The new vehicles are 6x2 rigid trucks with a power output of 350 kW and a 525 kWh battery. According to DAF, they offer a range of up to 550 kilometers. The trucks will be used for the distribution of refrigerated dairy products in Denmark.

The XD Electric models are part of DAF’s well-established range of electric trucks. For heavy-duty distribution tasks, the manufacturer offers various 6x2 configurations. The variant used by Arla features the largest available battery capacity—525 kWh—and utilizes the maximum 350 kW motor output from DAF’s electric powertrain. At the same time, Arla is deploying seven additional DAF XD trucks, featuring 6x2 chassis and MX-11 diesel engines. These models have a maximum power output of 330 kW. All the vehicles are supplied with a DAF MultiSupport repair and maintenance contract.

DAF delivers the XD Electric along with charging infrastructure.
Regarding its electric trucks, Arla is expanding the charging infrastructure at its Hobro site, which houses both a dairy plant and a vehicle depot. PACCAR Power Solutions is currently installing a charging system with a total capacity of 480 kW. The all-electric fleet will be charged via six rapid-charging points, each with a power output of up to 400 kW. According to PACCAR, an analysis of driving profiles has shown that overnight charging at the company’s facilities is sufficient for nearly all of Arla’s transport operations.
Arla also highlights positive experiences with the three XD Electric trucks already in service. Fleet manager Michael Engsig Hansen points to panoramic visibility, driver comfort, energy consumption, and reliability as key factors in the decision to place this new order.
