Coca-Cola Electrifies Its German Fleet

The transition was completed on schedule at the end of last year, as originally planned in 2021. Since this milestone was only recently confirmed through an internal audit, Coca-Cola Germany announced the completion of its fleet transition in mid-April. The current fleet of battery-electric vehicles includes models from well-known brands such as Hyundai, Opel, Škoda, BMW, and others. These include passenger cars for sales representatives and vans for service technicians who install, maintain, or repair sales equipment, such as beverage dispensing systems.

In 2021, Europacific Partners Germany joined The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative. This commitment obliges the organization to transition all its passenger cars and vans in Europe to electric or hybrid powertrains by 2030. In Germany, Europacific Partners Germany achieved this goal ahead of schedule, reaching full electrification by the end of 2023. Following its commitment to the EV100 initiative, Europacific Partners Germany placed a significant order with Hyundai and began managing orders for up to 200 Kona Electric models annually. The 500th vehicle was delivered in March 2024. Since then, the company has added the Hyundai Ioniq to its fleet, as evidenced by recent press images.

Within the broader European context, Europacific Partners Germany has not yet reached its full potential, but it is showing signs of progress. By 2023, the proportion of electric or hybrid passenger cars, vans, and trucks at Europacific Partners Germany had risen to 55.5%. In 2023, emissions from the passenger car and van fleet of Europacific Partners Germany accounted for approximately 25% of the company's direct emissions, making it a key factor in achieving its sustainability goals.

To support this transition in Germany, Europacific Partners Germany installed a total of 170 charging stations across its 23 sites by the end of last year. Additionally, the company supported the acquisition of 480 wallboxes for employees using company or operational vehicles. Of the 23 sites, 13 are production plants dedicated to beverage bottling. The company serves approximately 340,000 retail and hospitality customers and employs a workforce of over 6,000 people.

"We are proud to have successfully electrified our entire fleet of passenger cars and vans on schedule, despite the challenges caused by supply shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak of the war in Ukraine," says Sven Boomgaarden, Director of Customer Service and Supply Chain at Europacific Partners Germany. "This represents a significant contribution to our commitment under the EV100 initiative and sends a strong signal in favor of sustainable mobility in Germany."
