Bihar Police Acquires 1,100 Electric Motorcycles

Under the terms of the contract, Revolt Motors has committed to delivering 1,100 electric motorcycles to the Bihar Police by January 2027. However, the company plans to fulfill the order well ahead of this deadline—specifically, by the end of this month. The official handover of the motorcycles will take place before the relevant authorities, namely the police department in Patna, the state capital.

Revolt Motors offers a lineup of six electric motorcycles, with prices ranging from 99,999 rupees (approximately 940 euros) to 144,950 rupees (1,362 euros), excluding registration fees and insurance. For this fleet order, the Bihar Police selected the BlazeX—one of the company’s high-end models—priced at 134,990 rupees (1,268 euros), excluding dealer charges.

The BlazeX is an electric motorcycle designed for urban commuting. It features a centrally mounted, IP67-rated motor that delivers 4.1 kW of power and 37.4 Nm of torque. The motor is manufactured by the domestic firm Sona Comstar and is powered by an IP67-rated 3.24 kWh battery pack, which utilizes NMC cells supplied by CATL. This configuration allows the BlazeX to accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 km/h.

Charging the 3.24 kWh battery from 0% to 100% capacity (State of Charge) takes 4 hours and 45 minutes. If no charging point is available near the motorcycle, the battery pack can be removed and recharged separately using any standard electrical outlet. According to IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) specifications, the vehicle offers a range of 150 kilometers.

Revolt Motors began selling electric motorcycles in August 2019 and has delivered over 60,000 units to date. Regarding the order from the Bihar Police, Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises—the parent company of Revolt Motors—stated: "The fact that the Bihar Police has selected our company to supply 1,100 electric motorcycles marks a significant milestone for Revolt. Institutional mobility entails requirements that differ from those of private ownership, and engagements of this scale provide us with the opportunity to deploy our products in real-world operational environments. We believe that institutional adoption is a crucial pathway for expanding the role of electric motorcycles in India."
