Michelin Adds 19 Electric Vans to Its UK Fleet
With these latest additions, the number of battery-electric vehicles in Michelin’s operational fleet has risen to 36 out of a total of 56 vehicles. Michelin projects that this expansion of its electric fleet will lead to an annual reduction of 79.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The company plans to continue replacing diesel models over the coming year as part of its goal to operate a fully electric fleet by 2030.
"Michelin is committed to a sustainable future, and the use of telematics data has supported this journey for several years," said Andrew French, B2B Sales Director for Michelin UK & Ireland. "Implementing Michelin Connected Fleet technology has resulted in significant improvements in road safety and driving habits. This has been achieved by monitoring harsh braking and acceleration, which has helped reduce accidents and optimize fleet utilization."

The company held a training session in Stoke-on-Trent to familiarize drivers with the new vehicles, onboard systems, and charging procedures. The program focused on techniques to maximize driving range through more efficient driving styles.
Following rigorous road testing by Michelin’s operations teams, Ford’s electric vans were found to meet the quality and performance standards required for selection.

The vehicles are fitted with either Michelin Agilis 3 summer tires or Michelin Agilis CrossClimate all-season tires. According to Michelin, the Agilis 3 offers lower rolling resistance than its predecessor, helping to boost vehicle efficiency and range. For its part, the Agilis CrossClimate guarantees year-round performance and holds 3PMSF certification for traction on snow and other challenging surfaces.
